The national labor relations board which is commonly referred to as NLRB happens to be an independent agency which is under the United States government jurisdiction. This organization happens to operate with full autonomy outside all the other agencies in the government. In addition, it focuses on a number of issues which revolve around labor in the United States.
In regard to Taft-Hartley Act, this organization is divided into two bodies there is the General Counsel and there is the Board itself. The general counsel consists of five people who are appointed by the president and then approved by the senate. They stay in office for a period of four years. The board consists of thirty regional offices which are staffed by elected administrators and officials. They are the ones who handle all the investigations which are related to those duties in their areas of work.
This organization has the primary duty of overseeing elections of unions. It also have the duty of conducting investigations especially when there is an issue that involves the labor. They are also responsible for making decisions which regards the unfair labor practices. This organization is also responsible for maintaining proper procedures in the labor union. It is also responsible for pushing for transparency and clarity. This organization also mitigates the possibility of any form of corruption.
In case there are some prove, it calls for an overall fairness in contract negotiations. It is clear that the any violations conduct by employers is caused by unfair labor practices. Some of the issues that are included in this are all forms of harassment in the place of work, wage dispute, and other general conduct questions. However, the organization has the main concern in what a private company can or cannot do.
